How to take care of your hair this spring

Spring is right around the corner, and the temperature is warming up. It is time to make some changes, and it is time to bring out the spring wardrobe. Maybe it is time to stop by your favorite salon and get a new hairstyle, or even switch it up with a new color. During this time, your hair’s needs are changing, so it is time to change your winter routine to a spring routine to help get your hair in the best condition for the hot summer months ahead. These are a few things you can do to take care of your hair this spring.

Tame the frizz

No one likes frizz; it can ruin your confidence and leave you feeling unsatisfied. As the weather warms up, the humidity can ruin a perfect hair day. The only way to prevent this situation is to find a good mousse or gel that contains polymers and copolymers. These ingredients bind and seal up your hair strands to cut down on the frizz.

Avoid daily shampooing

Shampooing too often can strip your hair of natural oils, leaving it dry and frizzy. Make sure you are giving back to your hair and replenishing it. A good shampoo to try is our nutri-plenish shampoo and conditioner. If you have oily hair, it can make your hair release even more oil as it tries to correct the over-stripping. Between washes, it may be beneficial to find a good dry shampoo to keep your hair fresh.

Get a fresh trim

Split ends make your hair look dry and fizzy, and a fresh trim can make you feel brand new to start the spring off right. Visit your salon for an early springtime trim to get rid of the split ends and start off fresh.

Focus on intense conditioning

As the warm weather approaches, it is time to switch your conditioner for something more moisturizing. The cuticle is the outer layer of your hair that protects the inner core. Conditioners help seal in that cuticle. When the cuticle splits apart, it can tangle with other hairs and leave your hair damaged. Ask your stylist to recommend conditioning products that would be beneficial for your type of hair. Ask your stylist about the frequency of conditioning your hair to help it look its best. Your stylist may also recommend regular deep conditioning treatments at the salon to get your hair in its best condition.

Protect against chlorine

I know we all love it when the warm weather hits and the pools are open. Make sure to protect your hair from damaging chlorine. Make sure you are washing your hair after being exposed to chlorine instead of letting it set in your hair. You can also coat your hair with leave-in conditioner to keep that chlorine from soaking in. Either way, just make sure you wash and rinse after swimming to clean away the chlorine.

I hope these tips help you feel confident and take care of your hair this spring season. Make sure you talk to your stylist about what products are best for your type of hair to make sure you are properly taking care of your hair.
